The Galena Volunteer Fire Department follows an aggressive training schedule to assure proficiency in fire fighting, EMS and rescue skills for all members.  In-house training is provided by the department's two State of Nevada Certified Fire Service Instructors and includes a regional training program provided by the Nevada Division of Forestry and City of Reno Fire Department Training Division.

Volunteers pursue additional training through programs with the Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA) and Truckee Meadows Community College.

REGIONAL TRANING CENTER

The Regional Public Safety Training Center located in Reno provides state of the art classroom and functional training areas providing safe and effective training evolutions for area career and volunteer firefighters.

The burn building is 7 floors and approximately 8,000 sq. ft.  It is split level allowing for basement simulations.  There are four Symtron natural gas burn props with flashover effects.  The building also  has a variable pitch, multi-functional roof prop that allows ventilation training on one side, and has a spongy section on the other.  In addition, the building also supports rope rescue, confined space, industrial and elevator evolutions.
